Do I need a referral to see an osteopath?
No, a referral from a GP or specialist is not needed for a consult with an osteopath – though you may be eligible for up to 5 subsidised treatments each year with a CDM/EPC plan from your GP.
Should I arrive early for my consultation?
If it is your first consultation, it is recommended that you arrive 5 minutes early to complete a Consent Form to avoid using up consultation time.
For return visits, arriving 5 minutes early is encouraged!
What should I wear?
Loose fitting and comfortable clothing is recommended, although to be able to properly assess the whole body and be holistic in our approach to treatment we may ask you to disrobe (with undergarments left on).
Due to the pandemic, we unfortunately cannot offer patient gowns.
Towels are used throughout the treatment to drape over exposed areas of the body and privacy is provided during disrobing.
Should I bring anything to my consult?
Yes, please bring any relevant x-rays, CT, MRI images, radiology reports, test results or other additional information from another health professional that you may have.
How should I expect to feel post-treatment?
Most patients can expect to feel a decrease in their pain and an improvement in their function following treatment.
Due to the hands-on therapy and active rehab exercises provided during treatment, it is not uncommon to experience some post-treatment tenderness that typically subsides in 1-2 days.
While most adverse effects to treatment are minor and short-lived, they will be discussed in detail by your practitioner at the start of your consult before any therapy begin
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
We ask that you provide us with 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled appointment if you are unable to attend, otherwise a cancellation fee may apply.
What if I am under the age of 18?
Underage patients must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We do not treat patients under 4 years of age.
Is the clinic wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, the clinic is not currently wheelchair accessible.
Do you bill third party payers?
Yes, we accept appointments covered by third party payers such as TAC, Worksafe Victoria, DVA and Medicare (CDM/EPC).
Please be mindful that we charge a gap fee.
Ensure that you bring the necessary referral forms, claim numbers or any other relevant paperwork so that we are able to bill your payer.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, Eftpos, Visa and Mastercard.
Are consults covered by private health insurance?
If you have ‘Extras’ or ‘Ancillary’ cover, osteopathic consults may be included by your health fund. Consult with your insurance provider to see if you are eligible for benefits.
A HICAPS terminal is available at the clinic for on-the-spot claims if you bring in your private health insurance card. Alternatively, an email receipt can be sent for you to claim at a later time.
